Hong Kong, December 18, 2024 — EX.IO, a virtual asset exchange in Hong Kong (Thousand Whales Technology (BVI) Limited), has obtained approval from the Securities and Futures Commission (“SFC”) of Hong Kong to operate a virtual asset trading platform under the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing Ordinance (“AMLO”) with Type 1 (dealing in securities) and Type 7 (providing automated trading services) licenses.
EX.IO is one of the VATP applicants who received the VATP license approval under the deemed-to-be-licensed regime. It distinguishes itself as the first and only licensee with a securities brokerage background, backed by Sina’s Valuable Capital Group as the primary investor. Since inception, the company has dedicated itself to bridging the gap between Web2 and Web3 investors.
