When customers utilize hardware wallets like Ledger and connect them to Electrum or just use Electrum itself, the default scenario is as follows: a BTC payment address is utilized only once. When the wallet transfers BTC out, users cannot select which “Unspent Transaction Output (UTXO)” to use.

Steps
This article uses Windows version of Electrum (v4.5.4)
1. In Electrum, navigate to the “View” menu and activate the “Coins” tab.
2. Select the “Coins” tab by clicking on it.
On this interface, you’ll find all unspent transaction outputs (UTXOs) associated with this wallet.
3. Choose the UTXO address you wish to utilize for sending.
To select the address for sending BTC, right-click on it and choose “Add to coin control.”
You can choose multiple UTXO wallet addresses belonging to the same address by holding down Shift. Then, right-click and select “Add to coin control.”
4. Navigate to the “Send” tab.
Complete the fields for the destination address, description (optional), and the amount of BTC you wish to send. Then, click on “Pay…”
Upon entering the sending preview page, the default settings are as follows:
Click on the button located in the top right corner to adjust settings. Make sure the “Show inputs and outputs” box is checked and the “Use change addresses” box is unchecked.
At this stage, you’ll notice three key elements:
(1) The transaction employs the UTXO we manually selected for sending,
(2) sending to the destination address, while
(3) any change from the transaction is returned to your original address.
